Red has an enduring elegance in a resort wardrobe, vivid against sun-warmed skin and particularly refined as the day moves into evening. Melissa Odabash explores the color from brilliant Red to deep Burgundy, through knitted beachwear, long dresses and swimwear in matching shades.
The Ambra Dress captures the brighter side of the palette. Short, knitted and drawn in at the waist, it is an easy layer over the Saya Bikini or Balearic Swimsuit, a halterneck style in the same vivid Red. Keeping the color consistent makes even the simplest combination feel polished, whether it stays by the pool or carries on to lunch.
Burgundy is quieter and richer. The Callie Dress follows the body in a long, fitted knit, while the Lido Dress offers another way to wear the deeper shade. Underneath, the bestselling Provence Bikini brings the support of an underwired shape, while the new Lido Swimsuit keeps the palette uninterrupted. For a change of pace, the Hillary Dress breaks Burgundy with crisp White.
There is no need to change the palette when leaving the water. Red works beautifully in the sun; Burgundy comes into its own later in the day. Together, they make a compelling case for dressing in one color from swimsuit to cover-up, and keeping it on through dinner.
